Chairman's Chat

I don't know how often I will get the time (or motivation) to put something here, but let's see what happens. The idea is that my monthly Chairman's Corner in the newsletter will be focused on the big issues, so this blog is an opportunity to say something about other aspects of life around the Wanderers.

You will all know (or at least you should) that the Club cements its ties between the traditions of the past and the spirit of the future through the election of a President and Vice Presidents. These very worthy members get little acknowledgment for offering their wisdom and guidance, so we are delighted that we continue to host the annual President's Lunch, attended by the main committee and the chairpersons of the sub-clubs (well, those of them that are not tied up by work commitments).

The 2010 President's Lunch was held on Friday 20 August, and it was great to see Mike Rosholt in fine fettle.

If you have explored the new Wanderers Club web site, you will know that we rely on the book "The Golden Years" by Thelma Gutsche for much of the Club's early history. Mike has suggested that we must compile the next edition, while we still have the memories available. I think it's a great idea!

So, anyone who has a story to tell about the Club, please send it to us. You can "blog" it, email it, scribble it on the back of an envelope, or even record it on audio or video. We'll collect them all and start compiling the new book.
